The house without a foundation will collapse, and nobody will ever get very far without a good pair of shoes. That’s why Jan Luyken’s The Shoemaker does what he does. While many see a few pieces of leather and cloth fashioned together, he knows that his creations are much more important than that.

The Shoemaker is a single part of Jan Luyken’s sprawling masterwork, The Mirror of Human Activities (Spiegel van het Menselyk Bedryf). Here, the engraving has been reproduced in all its splendor as a limited edition piece for you to display proudly in your home or office. In painstakingly recreating this vision from the Golden Age of Dutch fine art, we used only the finest materials and historically accurate techniques.
